Muddy’s homestead expansion journey!

Boris is still in the front pasture……we’ve decided to leave him out there because he along with (mainly the ducks) keep the pasture clean of cow patties. One thing that I’ve learned is that pot bellies are perfectly happy being loner pigs.

And they’re a good small homestead pig because they are dual purpose, grow out quickly and more manageable for sustainable meat production/processing.
We’re going to try breeding her with Ricky (my kunekune boar) but may consider getting another potbelly boar for her in the future.

They also consume less feed (relatively), don’t root, and do well with kiddie pools vs wallows

Gave Momma Natty some time roaming the shop today……only 1 piglet (Petey) managed to escape the run and had to be returned to his siblings

Mucked the run, cleaned a wheelbarrow load of poo out of the pig pasture, started fodder, finally picked up the mini’s truck from the mechanic, sold an item on FB, dug up and replaced the automatic gate sensor, and moved gravel around and re-graded the driveway.

Didn’t get everything on my list done…..but still making progress!

Planning to work at the boys’ house tomorrow…..shutting down the pool, snaking the drains, and moving more stuffs.

I’ve also been working on moving totes and stuff out of the spare bedroom…..we’re hoping to move the old mattress tomorrow to set that up as a guest room.
