Muddy lawn

Hi, my chooks have eaten all my grass and now its been raining its a mudbath out the back! I have bought some woodchip bark but I hear its not good to put it down on wet soil,is this right? Any information or help would be fab. From Vera, Betty, Freda, Pepper, Rusty, Snowy, Cloudy, Elsie and Bruiser

Many posters are strongly in favor of using a layer of sand to allow for drainage. It might be worth a try.

First layer grass seed, second layer sand, third layer wood chips, fourth layer hay.
