Muddy paw syndrome

Towels on the porch and deck, absorbent mats in front of the doors, and Dani is taught to "stand" while we clean her feet. She used to like to play in mud puddles, but did not like getting hosed down with cold water to clean off. That behavior ceased abruptly.

I don't think I could get them all booted (there are 5 of them) I think I will try putting rags by the back door.

Thank goodness for ceramic tile.

What we did is we had a doggie matt or bed by the kitchen door. When the dog came in, she went on that bed for 30 minutes and had a nice little nap. When she got up, all the dirt and mud was on the bed.

We're old. We like to keep things easy.

I hate Muddy paw syndrome! It never fails, I get the house clean and in come my dogs with muddy paws

Right now I just took the three boys out one at a time on leashes, they would run off if I just let them out.(usually after a rabbit) I can't take them back in the fence area to just run -there is now a couple inches of standing water over about 1/3 of it. The two girls will stay by me so they went out with the boys.

The rain just switched over to snow so this time they were more damp, than muddy. I sent them straight to the unfinished basement to play. I can hear them chasing the cat around.

Looks like you guys got this storm instead of us. We were possibly going to get 6 inches or more, turned to just rain mainly which I can handle. Went out to fill the dog bowl waterers for my freerange peas and guineas and they were DRY!!!

Ya think I could put a sign on them "Cows, these are NOT for you!" grrrr

My dogs have removed all the grass that in their 70x40ft run. Any water just turns to mud. Any holes become deep puddles. As long as the mud isn't like quicksand, I keep a bucket of water on the backporch with old towels. The girls are trained to put their foot, one at a time in the bucket so that I can wash it off. The towel I use to dry them with, I also use it to clean off their bellies.

He have been putting straw down to prevent caked on mud as much as possible.

Summer isn't a problem. CattleDogs are "wash & wear" dog. Get them muddy, let them jump in a lake, river, pond or in our case, Katies garden tub. TADA!
