Mule duck breeding plan!

Sorry I haven't been of for a while! They are doing very well! About half grown now and are feathering out a very interesting colour! Plus one is very similar to an appleyard marked duck! They act very Muscovy like in their gate, also most of the way they behave is very Muscovy like.... they do spend a lot of time in the water like the mallard and are very chatty!

This last one is probably my favourite!

Just to have as unusual pets :) I was going to eat some but I say that about a lot of things :p Hopeless!

exactly! we have talked about it also but then I go out and look at that face, well what can I say. if grocery stores close up tomorrow maybe I will feel differently. [but I doubt it] yours are very pretty. about 5 years ago I rescued 2 ducks that someone had dumped in the river below our home. poor things were starved. I searched for pics of ducks that looked like them to figure out a breed but never found any I also posted on here but no one knew. I am thinking they were Muscovy/Pekin mix they came with a Muscovy drake all 3 were drakes but the Muscovy was pure breed these guys were so cute and quacked continually but were a pretty rust brown large like Muscovy but body shape more like Pekin. I had so many drakes we ended up finding homes for the 2 but I'm pretty sure they were mules. I had pics on my computer but a couple years ago that one crashed and I lost them all.

Enjoy your ducks they are precious.

What a gorgeous cross! I love the barring on her feathers!

And it looks like the muscovy you have pictured is a ripple (I think I have posted on facebook with you too as that hen looks very familiar!).
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the magpie calls you are breeding. I got my first magpie calls this spring and can't wait to breed them next year. I have a black and white Ancona marked female and a blue splash bibbed drake. Both are small, have small bibs. I plan to show them next month just to see how they do but the magpie are definitely my favorite markings. I also breed anconas for showing but I like the size of the calls better.
Thankyou :D Yes she is the only female in the bunch, so she is a keeper for sure!!

This pic is a couple of weeks old, she now is getting green where her wing feathers are coming through.

Ahh right! Are you on the general duck FB groups or the Muscovy specific ones? Yes I totally agree about the ancona marked calls, my favourite type and colour in one :D
