We live in Maine and it was relatively cold until last Friday, when it suddenly hit 85 degrees. Our big Australorp Morticia, seemed to get dehydrated despite our best efforts. We’ve isolated her and have been giving her electrolytes regularly (first with a dropper, now she’s drinking on her own). However, she still seems totally disoriented and is barely eating after 4 days. Has anyone else dealt with a dehydration case for this long? Anything we can do to speed her recovery?

If she suffered heat exhaustion, then it can take a while to overcome. I would still check her out to make sure something else is not going on with her though.
Tell us more about Morticia. How old is she, does she lay eggs, what symptoms was she exhibiting 4 days ago, is her crop empty in the morning, no lice/mites, any swelling/fluid of the abdomen.
