I need help!!! I have had 3 sexlinks, 2 black jerseys, and 1 delaware prolapse when laying. The other
chickens keep pecking at the blood till they kill the hen. I have been able to save 2 by catching them
at the time of the prolapse. Please help.

I am still feeding starter, laying pellets, scratch, oyster shell. The hens are about 10 months old and
have been laying even in the cold weather.

I am so upset. I hate laying time because of the prolapse.

What kind of feed are you feeding them? Do they have access to plenty of oyster shell? That is not the norm to have that many hens prolapsing.

They don't need the starter anymore. How much scratch? I think I'd cut that out entirely for right now. Being too fat can cause some issues, do you think they're over weight? If you've got them under lights I'd quit that also.

I don't think they are too fat. It seems to be moving thru type of
chicken first the sexlinks, then the jerseys and now delawares.

we had a yellow light in the cold weather. 2 lbs of scratch a day
2 lbs pellets and 2 lbs starter with oyster shell. plenty of water
they have a five gallon waterer.

Sometimes there is stuff hanging out. Other times the whole area is open and they
will be dripping blood every where. Thats when the other hens start pecking and
pulling. Sometimes it looks like the keel bone is protruding out. One that is alive
lost all her reproductive organs, she is a pet.

Are you sure you don't have a "cannibel" chicken? How many do you have and how big of an area. If they're crowded they can get to pecking on each other badly. I don't know what else to suggest.
