Multiple Pygmy/Nigerian Dwarf goat questions!

You have a few issues here...

First, the boy that was successfully wethered was likely done so way too early. You'll have to be VERY careful feeding him to avoid UC.

The second boy's testicle likely migrated back over the band after he was banded. It probably does still have some function, and he may well be somewhat fertile. Testicles are in scrotums for a reason, they don't do well when warm. So, his sperm count will be VERY low and probably the sperm won't be very motile. Still, he could do the job. You will need to have his remaining testicle removed, still, because abdominal testes are notorious for becoming cancerous.

I've even had one 9 week old buckling who was too small to be banded, had to send him home intact with arrangements to finish the job at a later date. Even with good sized boys, you HAVE to inspect the scrotum daily for problems (including a testicle popping back up).

As far as your does...they're a little young but in all likelyhood will be okay. The only for sure way to check pregnancy is to take them to a vet for US or serum test.

Our adult goats do fine with bedded shelter all winter. If you have babies, then heat lamps are in order. Our heat lamps are already on here in GA for our babies.

Chances are as long as the testicle is up in the belly he is not fertile, if it were me I'd probably go ahead and have a vet finish the job. Not alot of fun having a wether that has all the bad traits of a buck!

I thought I would probably have to get it removed. thanks for the confirmation. yeah, no point tolerating the stink if hes not fertile.

One more question, Daisy, the boss of the barnyard, has 4 inch horns and in the last week has broken the tips off of both horns...but theres nothing I can see in the barn/pen for her to do this on...it is ok for them to break the top 1/2 inch off?
