I hope that's what it is. No 3 is really trying to get out, I've chipped away nearly half the shell. It's really wedged in there and looks like it's coming out bum first. No wonder it's having problems. Still has active veins too. Others are still tapping and no.2 can't seem to stand up at the mo and is sleeping a lot. Hoping it's just really tired.
Urgh I'm tired too and stressed! Really need to try and sleep am feeling better so going into work tomorrow, need a break from hatching! Angus will be here to supervise, he's down there talking to no.3 trying to talk it out lol!

My second egg had a funny color on the top of hers too. I was worried a bit, but she was moving and eventually got out. Don't give up!

Yeh they've got water, but I'm not sure they know what to do. I dipped the yellow ones bill in the water and it drank and was like ohh nice but wouldnt do it on its own. The new one has just been sleeping since it's been out.
I put some water on my finger for no.3 and it lapped it up.

My husband dipped his finger in the water, then dipped it in the crumble and the girls pecked it off his finger first. Then they gradually discovered the food. See if that helps.

Hello! You're everywhere like me lol. That's a good idea about the food. I'll have to try it tomorrow. I've left the 2 with some vitamin water and a little pile of food just incase. I hope the colour thing is nothing. Anywho night all and thanks again! X x

My eggs get a weird color on them sometimes too. Almost like when you put grease on a napkin- it gets dark and kinda translucent- I assume it's where the shell gets really thin from them trying to get through.

Number two just sounds tired to me, can take a little while for some of them to get up and running and others it takes a few seconds! I have experienced that whole bum first thing-not sure why I didn't think about it before!? I hope for the best! Hopefully you will come home from work tomorrow to a nice ducky surprise!

Morning guys. Woke up to find ducky 3 had finally popped out thank goodness! Put it in the brooder before I left for work and was fluffing up nicely. Noticed though he had a little cut on his leg but nothing major. As we were oogling that one no.4 hatched out with no interference from me! No 5 hadn't done much more with his coloured shell, I may have chipped a little away for him. So hope he's out when I get back.
Can't believe my first hatch and 5 out of 6 made it from start to finish, well assuming no.5 gets out.

I reckon the guy hasn't given me runner eggs though. The markings on all other than the yellow one look very roueny. He didn't have any but he did have appleyards. He was sure they were runners though. Unless they're a cross. Hmmmm.

Wow! That is to cool! Once they start hatching it's one after the other! So glad number three made it, was worried about that one. Even if number five does not hatch you still had really great results! When I bought my ducks they were supposed to be runners to but they ended up being a mix! Ugh!
