That is a very wll written letter. I also believe that there is more to be had if you so desired, but compensation for things like this always have their balance. It is the balance of real cost, percieved cost and how to handle the issue of the neighbor and that relationship. If you are comfortable with your claim and it makes sense to you then it is the correct number.

I dont envy your position.

Is the neighbor clear that if the 30 30 was a bit handier he would have another issue to deal with? I hate the whole idea of shooting a pet, but sometimes.

I called my neighbor and told him what happened and he offered to come over and get the letter. He was very polite and sorry for what happened. He said he would be glad to pay for the chickens. I guess he has read my letter and the bill but I have not heard from him.

I hope this all turns out ok. We are such a small community that we all need to be able to depend on each other to behave in a responsible manner.

Your letter is well written, and I hope you get resolution. BE SURE TO TAKE PHOTOS, should you need to go to small claims court.

I saw lockedhearts post re. loss of income etc and repair to area.

I'm so sorry for your losses.

Have you filed a police/animal control report?

Are there any leash laws in your area, if yes, then you should file a report with them as well.

Hope your neighbor is cooperative.

Hey Dawn, Sorry for your loss! I'm almost yer neighbor. Toadsuck has some of the best " big boy" fishin' around, in the Arkansas River. I live between Toadsuck & Bald Knob, Just a rocks throw from Possum Grape.

I have never heard of anyone doing it here. the Arkansas River can be really dangerous due ti the undertowes and currents. I have heard of it being done in other parts of the state. Greers Ferry Lake was man made and they flooded a town to make it. You know, like in Deliverence.

Well, we woke up from our afternoon nap and there was a voice mail. It was my neighbor apologizing again and he had been back over to give us a check. He left the check under a windshield wiper on my husbands truck.

I am glad this ended well and in a couple of days I will bake them one of my home made almond pound cakes as a gesture of good will.
