Murray Mcmurray Hatchery do they sell good birds?

Awesome I will order from them next spring and also another question I have heard allot abot the Cochin breed are they really as good as people make them seem!

most of my chickens have come from them, and i am getting 22 more in a cpl weeks, my friend has won some first and second place ribbons with some of hers from there, and in the spring i am going to show mine as well from them

I have been looking at Murray Mcmurray for a long time now but the real question is "Do they sell good birds?" Any feed back is appreciated!

Murray McMurray has an excellent reputation as far as I can see. That's who I'm ordering from this year. I looked at another hatchery where the minimum order was 3, but they only sold groups of breeds they chose. I wanted to choose the breeds and I don't want ANY more roosters, so I can't afford to order SR. The minimum order for Murray McMurray is 25, so my father in-law said he'd order some birds too. He's been wanting chickens for a while now and was really excited when I got my first flock last Spring. If you don't need 25 but want to pick and choose your breeds, ordering with someone else who is interested is the way to go!

I ordered 25 chicks and got 27 last April and they are all still health and laying well I'm very happy with my birds. I will say they are a bit small but other than that they are good birds, with the exception of the Black Sex-Links I don't really care for their looks or egg quality but, the Red Sex-Links are awesome they lay huge bark brown eggs everyday without fail.

Is it a trick of the camera or does the silver sebright have a twisted beak? Just curious?!

Sebright roo does have a crooked beak. He looks healthy tho.

Many years ago, McMurray was the choice in our farm town and I've had good birds, better examples than the ones we have today. The Hamburgs, Buttercups, Cochins, Brahmas, from the Rarest of Rare variety was pretty good! Todays breed except for the Cochins are not as good as it used to be and I was disappointed how it turned out to be. It has been over 30 years since I had McM and a few years ago I ordered some White Orpingtons....that year they had problems, chicks dropping like flies or failure to thrive or runty looking. I hope it got better from there on and haven't heard problems since then.

Yes they are good for backyard uses but not for exhibition purposes.
