Two months ago, my family order chicks from MM Hatchery. 2 buff orphington pullets, 2 barred rocks pullets (gave us an extra), 3 turkens pullets and a cockerel, 3 black jersey giants pullets and cockerel, and 5 ameracaunas (3 females and 2 males) plus the polish they gave us.
Of these 5 ameracaunas only three have the cheeks. one of those however has white and not slate legs. The two without cheeks, one has slate legs and the other has green legs.
I don't know if it's because they aren't pure or maybe they don't have a nice breeding line(genetic faults or something)
We aren't going to breed with the two roos. We had picked up another ameracuana roo to make sure our lines were clean.
The order form had araucana's on it instead of ameracaunas. Maybe they mixed it up? None of them looked rumpless or as if they have ear tuffs.
Hmm, I guess what I'm asking is whether any of these could be pure or are they likely easter eggers passed off as pures? Have any of you had any experience with MMH's ameracaunas?
