Muscovies in US - REGULATION CHANGES OPEN FOR COMMENTS - 10/1 update

Thanks for posting that.

I agree strongly with silkies point that we do not need their permission to retain our domestic Muscovies.

I feel that I made this point in my my e-mail, in an unconfrontational manner.

"Domestic Muscovy shall be defined as any Muscovy that was owned prior to March 31, 2010 and it's offspring."

Would that rule out muscovies purchased after the 31st? We are still hoping to sell ducks to other people.

OK, somebody jump in if my logic sounds faulty.

A domestic Muscovy is a Muscovy that was owned by somebody prior to March 31, or the offspring of a Muscovy that was owned by somebody prior to March 31.

And domestic Muscovy are not covered by the new rule.

So therefore, we are not being regulated at all by the new rule. We can still buy and sell domestic Muscovies. We just can't buy or sell any Muscovy that was wild on March 31.

The proposed language would be:

"Domestic Muscovy shall be defined as any Muscovy that was owned prior to March 31, 2010 and it's offspring."

"Domestic Muscovies are not subject to this regulation."

Did I miss anything?

this is not in the regulation it is a suggestion from one of us so it has no grounds for use.
his responce to me was very short I have noted on some of the others responces he has sent to others a bit peeved . LOL at any rate the responces are the same in general. even the the above phrase could have implacations. How do you prove they are owned ?? a chip? a document? my word? a permit?? my point is becareful because it can bite you in the but. I requested no permits ........
I agree we should not be told by big brother what we can have in our own backyard but we have asked for him to do so much hes getting ready to herd us like a stock dog. you asked for it you got it toyota ....... We have been so busy looking over our neighbors fence to see what hes doing wrong we what forgot that big brother would start doing that for us as well. The more laws we make the tighter the noose on all of us.

On muscovy again APA and IWA are working on this for us. I do not understand why he wants us to word a law for him.
at any rate happy muscovy raising mine are now breeding or raping as you muscovy breeders know

How do you prove they are owned ??

If this is still America, "Innocent until proven guilty," is still the standard. Thus the burden of proof would be to prove that the Muscovies were not owned on March 31.

Glad to hear that the organizations are working on it, also.

First NAIS, now this. Sheeesh!

You know, I'll bet the founding fathers would never, ever, have thought that a "right to farm" was needed in the bill of rights. I would think that to them that would have been as un-needed as a "right to feed yourself".

were talking big brother here and i wonder if any other org would get involved as well at any rate you need to check out what the government has done .
from killing stock. taking stock
you are no longer innocent till proven guilty ,your guilty until you can aford to be proven innocent , and if you dont have the $$$$$ YOUR GUILTY BUBBA !!!

I'm aware of the things you just mentioned. I guess that I'm just not ready to roll over and give up yet.

There was one farmer that spoke at the NAIS listening session in my region that gave his name, and then spelled his name real slow and at the end of his allotted time he told the USDA to bring body bags if they came to his farm again.
