None of mine ever flew more than a few feet.

I confess I didn't get to read all the posts yet, but what about adoption, like the BLM does with Burros & Mustangs? I can imagine the uproar if they began to openly exterminate those populations!

I think cats, and humans (call me blasphemer!) are much harder on ecosystems, flora & fauna.

When it comes right down to it, only individual states should be regulating what is and is not considered an invasive species in their own state, and determing for themselves the appropriate actions. The federal government has a simple task - defense of the nation so that the states can go about their business. Sadly, they have taken all the power we as a nation have let them have, and grab for more each day.

Sorry, you probably couldn't get the information from those sources because I mistakenly referred to it as a law. It is NOT a law, but rather a regulation. CFR-21.54 by the Fish and Wildlife Services.

Not sure why the link I posted doesn't work for everyone... Here's a link to the Migratory Birds section of the FWS website:

Thank you for clarifying on the difference between law and regulation. It was my error in calling it a law and was too busy traveling yesterday to update my post to clarify.

So, if this is for real, I think FWS is going at it all wrong.

Those feral muscovies in Florida should really be used to feed the Burmese Pythons that are diminishing the endemic species in the everglades. See the latest NOVA on PBS. If the pythons were sent a memo on what is approved eating then our problems would be solved. Florida would have fewer muscovies fertilizing golf courses and we could have our ducks, all for the price of postage....at no inconvenience to our government.
