This is what ive been saying all along this is not about them going wild but being fed and protected and breeding in PUBLIC AREAS.........................
Since many of the problems caused by Muscovies are the result of residents feeding these ducks, discouraging feeding in community parks and around lakes would help to alleviate some problems. In many areas, particularly in southern Florida, city ordinances ban residents from feeding ducks, although these rules are difficult to enforce. Efforts to decrease nesting success of Muscovies can also help to reduce populations. Eggs should not be removed, as the female will lay a replacement clutch. Instead, the eggs should be shaken vigorously (to render them unviable) and returned to the nest, or replaced with plastic eggs.

It seems like the areas with the biggest problems are somewhat densely populated urban and suburban areas (based on complaints that the ruin lawns, swim in pools, destroy golf courses, etc). I get the feeling most communities wouldn't be comfortable with hunters shooting guns at the park where their kids play...

There isn't any good one-size-fits-all solution for nuisance muscovies. You can kill them all, but if people are still releasing them at local ponds, the problem will be perpetual (expensive to keep paying people to trap/kill them. not to mention the bad PR). If you only ban ownership, that doesn't solve the overpopulation problems. Catching and adopting birds won't work as there are just too many of them. hunting raises safety concerns...

Most likely each community will need to do a different mix of some or all of the above to get the muscovy population under control.

Call me a paranoid, tinfoil hat wearing, conspiracy theorist, but here is my take, on the many inane laws, which are being written.

The purpose is for the confiscation of private property....You can't do this, with your land, you can't do that, with your land, and in doing so, you have committed a crime, against the state.

It's no different than having thousands of pages of tax law, which noone can fully know or understand...At any point, if they choose, you will become a criminal, at the mercy of the govt.

I just tried to order muscovy from hoffmans God love that lil lady she talked to dr allen and she told me hes all washed up he doesnt know any thing about muscovy.She just told me haer story at 18 she graduated from high school and instead of going to collage she bought a an incubator and has been hatching muscovy eggs shes 85 and still hatching God love her a sweety . If you can order from her do it!!!
