Muscovies to Be Gased In Ocala.

If people rescue them, won't they try and fly back to their "adopted areas," as soon as they get a chance? Probably a very stupid question. But, if they do that sort of thing, rescues will be for naught.

But the problem is this won't fix anything.

Yes they are an invasive species (although, they probably aren't doing much damage because they're mainly eating what people feed them) but the government seems to think that by killing and banning them they will be able to fix the problem. Actually I think Ocala is more worried about poop on the sidewalks than anything else

I think they should find homes for these ducks, shake the eggs (destroying them will only cause mothers to lay more eggs), educate the public on why releasing your pet ducks is bad, and educate the public on why feeding them is bad (causes them to multiply). People should also be advised to clip their ducks wings or keep them in a secure enclosure so they can't fly off and live in parks.

I don't disagree with you. The problem I have is the waste. 110 ducks could feed a lot of hungry people.

But i would not want to eat those. There is no way to know what they have been eating... Plus they would have to go though a USDA inspected place ( i am prety sure e

Ok here is something that should not have been done. In NB there was a cull of Canada Geese because they were "pooping every where" (there was what 200 some geese culled)

To the city people it well solve it. To me culling is not a problem and the way they are doing is seems "humane"

The ducks wings are clipped to keep them from flying back... Plus the place they would of been taken too was a couple hundred acres with a good sized lake and plenty of food, so no real reason for them to leave anyway

I like this!

Because these ducks could be put to good use (MEAT). Instead, because of government inefficiency and stupidity, they would rather spend tax dollars to kill them than have them rescued or used as food for FREE. That is just stupid.

Whenever there is an invasive species like this, the best way to take care of the problem is to tell people it is OK to harvest them and give them some recipes!

not if I pick them up first

that would be good, I just have to find out when they are going to give them the sleeping pills.
I don't think i'm going to be chasing those ducks around the pond and the pond is huge, little help here!!!!!!!

As an environmental science major, I believe humans are the most invasive species on this planet - certainly the most destructive to our own habitat
