Muscovy - Boy or Girl???

She will most likely lose that feather pattern on her chest and get more solid. They change alot in feather coloring.
If she is a mix its hard to say. I once had a muscovy/rouen mix that looked a lot like a rouen (neck ring, coloring) but had a number of muscovy traits too. He feathered out like a rouen though.

Much easier to tell with that pic, much more clearly female. Does not look like a mix to me.

I was worried for a couple months when I got my first muscovies. I was so worried they were going to be mules because their faces weren't warty enough, but I was just being impatient since I didn't want to have spent a couple hundred dollars just to feed a few dinners. They were all good pure muscovies.

I'm thinking pure Scovie too, she has the lil blk bean at the tip of her bill too. looks girlie, and coloring well it's amazing how much they change in the course of a few months. I have one that has continued to stay barred and she is 7 months now. It's so much fun watching the transformation.

Hi Miss Lydia - HURRAY for Girlie!!!! Yours gal is beautiful!!!! It is really cool to see the pictures over time - I am excited to watch Soup's feathers as she grows!

Don't forget to posts pics so we can see too. I'm sure mine will change even more when she has her first big molt. and i have 2 more from this years hatches that I am watching change over time, it's so interesting.

Soup has definitely grown into a lovely "She" - thank you all again for putting my mind at ease! I will have to find a pic to upload - I think she is gorgeous black irridescent green/purple feathers on her body with a mottled white head.

She has also turned into the sweetest of our three ducks, follows me around (she is the only one of our birds that can fly out of the run and so is completely free range when she gets bored of the flock) and loves to just sit in my lap and hang out.
