Cookie (Muscovy Duck) is sick. She is sitting around allot. Won’t eat. Haven’t really seen her drink much at all. Put her in my bathroom last night. Gave her food and water. She wasn’t interested. Gave her plain yogurt- she did eat a little bit of it. It was like she couldn’t really get her mouth open. Made some electrolyte water and she drank a little bit of that. Put her in a warm bath and she sat where I put her in the water. She did drink a little bit of water. Her poop is runny and green.
And she’s losing feather which might be from molting.
Thursday
Dr. Jones (my vet) said that he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with cookie. He does know about poultry. He did give her an injection and said maybe that will help her. He did examine her. She isn’t egg bound. She don’t have anything caught in her throat that he could tell or see. He tried getting a fecal sample but she had nothing there. This is the stuff he gave to her for the injection

Baytril injection exotic
Vitamin b-12 with dexamethasone injection

She did drink a few drinks about 10 minutes ago. I bought her a big bag of mealworms but she’s never had them (I bought the ducks 2 months ago making her 20 months old) so right now she has mealworms and water in her cage until we get home. I’ll continue to offer her food and see if I can get her to eat
Friday
As if this morning cookie hasn’t ate anything. I bought her meal worms and she still isn’t eating. I’ve gave her everything but she isn’t eating.
Not sure what else to do at this point.
I’m not going to tube feed her because I don’t feel comfortable with doing it.
Saturday.
I have gave her food and water but she isn’t eating or drinking. I did put her head in the water and she would drink just a small amount. I made some vitamin stuff up from one of the sites recommended (b12, e, fish oil) and would put her bill in it to make her drink some of it. I watered down some food and did the same thing. I got her to eat a little bit. Maybe a tablespoon full.
Sunday.
Made the toxin flush with epsom salt and water. Trying to get her to drink some of that. We won’t force it because we don’t want it to get in her lungs.
She’s gotten weaker, which she hasn’t ate so that makes sense because no nutrients in her.
Her poop is very watery
I have been giving her a warm bath with epsom salt the last several days. Sometimes she would drink about 3 drinks and not drink anymore.
Any suggestions?
Probably not a big concern but I did notice she isn’t preening herself. She hasn’t did that since Tuesday.
Also her bill is bluer than all the others.
And now she is wobbly when she stands up

Cookie's a very pretty girl...sorry to hear she's feeling poorly. 🙁 I have Muscovy, too, and they're generally very hardy ducks, so this situation must be really frustrating.

As you already know, she must eat to survive. Can you try offering scrambled eggs or maybe even some wet cat food? Her favorite foods prior to becoming ill?

Tagging @Miss Lydia, another Muscovy person, for ideas.

I’ve gave her water and offered her all kinds of food. She died last night.
thanks for your responses.
