Just curious, but can you kind of tell what your Muscovy duckling's color will be when it's older, by the coloring it has when it's a duckling?

I have an all yellow, which I was told would be an all white Muscovy. Makes sense to me as the Drake who fathered them is all white.

I have 2 light brown and yellows. Would this be chocolate and white whey they get older? I know at least one female was chocolate and white.

The last one throws me. His coloring throws me off. He's either a really dark brown, a light black or maybe even blue. His feet and legs are all black. Not sure if he'll turn into a chocolate and white, a black and white or a blue and white.

Just to give you an idea on how much they change.. 2 days old

someone is coming for 3 tomorrow but that leaves 8 plus the adult pair and the chickens. I really don't want to stick them on craigslist for free because I want a good home. There is someone local that does rescue and she took some roos I had but I don't know if she does ducks.

I still kind of want to try to sneak 2 of the babies to Alabama. I'm like I need a house with a privacy fence.

WARNING: Picture overload!

This is Piglet he/she will be white. This is the all yellow.
These are what I thought would be chocolate. The darker one is in the front.
Here is the darker of the 2
.This is the lighter of the 2 with the one I thought would be black, Penguin.
Here is Penguin again.
This is all 4 together.

Since I found this thread doing a search for Muscovy duck colors I just thought I would add something about the yellow ducklings. Not all yellow ducklings will be white. We end up with a lot of creams in our hatches that start out as solid yellow ducklings.

This brood of babies and I think thier papa in the back (16 babies), live in the retention pond next door to my house in Lakeland, FL.
I'm wondering what color all these babies will be when they're bigger. The blonde ones started out chick yellow, some with little bits of milk chocolate-like brown. The others were blackish. They're not MY ducks, but I have been seeing muscovy ducks in that fenced retention pond for a year and a half now, and they're so cute and funny, colorful and full of character. I love that they chirp when they're being cute for snacks, and I finally was able to get them a bag of bird food for starters (a little 2.5 pound bag), and if they don't eat it, the Blue Jays and other songbirds will.

We had other nests of babies throughout the year and this one batch with mama and 2 surviving babies, it was easy to spot which one of the babies was male and which was female by the colorings when they went black/white later on.

These ducks are like neighborhood celebrities, and are in almost all watery areas of Lakeland!
Maybe when they change color, I'll be able to figure out their genders?
