Update (especially for Miss Lydia):

Jools is now fully grown and no carunkles, so she might even miss them altogether now











And then trying to be 'arty' :



I love the little 'dots' around her eyes...



Now, unfortunately, we lost Daffney who flew away in the winds up to the local farm and wouldnt come back, but I dont think she's survived more than a week... She's the lavender one at the top of this next picture (taken on Jools 1st day outside back on 2nd December)



..and we still have her sister, Velma...

She is beautiful Doc, so glad to see her all grown up, and sorry to hear about Daffney, thats why I clip a wing, I don't want mine to fly off and not be able to find their way home. It's happened here too.

But you have lovely birds... I just love Muscovy faces they are all different.

All wings kept clipped now, they had molted last autumn and I hadnt thought they would grow so quickly, before I knew it I was chasing a couple of albatross across the village, bl**dy ducks!!!!

I found her but couldnt catch her as she kept flying away, think the farmer or foxes must have had her... shame but lesson learnt!

I know what you mean about lessons learned, We only lost 1 too but I still feel bad about it, and i would have loved to have seen a video of you chasing the albatross across the village.

you know even with a wing clipped they can still fly just not as far.

Yes well it was me and my two young lads chasing her around the farm....

Then I thought "ah-ha I'll make a whopping big net at home", so I did...

But then I thought Id best test it... so I did... on another duck....

And she flew off into the field across the road...

So we chased her and couldnt find her for half an hour, then the boys saw her and we slowly walked towards her, and then she flew off again....

Fortunately she flew back over the house, must have recognised the garden and dived back down

Why did you burn the net?? could have used it for fishing..

I have a net too, but once you've used it to catch them might as well burn it because they can see ya coming a mile away. Next time you have to do any chasing be sure to get one of your lads to film it..

Well... Coz it was more bother than result with the ducks and that was it, they flew off as soon as they saw the net, I need to make one of those harpoon nets...!!!

Besides, I dont go fishing, dont know why...

I saw on TV Animal planet years ago someone trying to catch an injured goose with one of those harpoon nets while it was in the water and on land, it was very funny actually, I don't go fishing either but the net I bought to catch ducks is for fishing. lol So if i ever decide to go fishing I'll have a net.
