she has a large wound on her right side chest area. looks like it is missing the feathers and some flesh. she can flap her wings and walk. ribs seemed to have blocked internal damage. Wound was clean.. I blotted up superficial blood and sprayed it with a healthy dose of blue kote. I am covered in blue kote as well. Any other suggestions? She is in a verikennel for now, but how do you keep a duck from laying in its poop? Anything else I can do for her?

Why these birds land in the dog's fenced yard is beyond me.

It should heal up without too much intervention. Keeping it clean inside with be harder. I think I might put it back out as soon as possible. You might want to clip one wing to ground your birds a bit.

i dont want her swimming until it heals over. We have a large pond. the muscovies aren't clipped because they need to roost at night, same with the guineas.... 15 acres and this is the 2nd bird to land in the dogs fenced yard.

well she made it through the night which is good. her water was purple as she is picking at the wound. her buddy is standing on the crate... should I move the crate into the air conditioned house today, or move it out under a shade tree? if I bring it in her buddy Jade cant sit with her. If i leave her out, she will need to be moved a couple times a day to stay in the shade.. Monday presents its own challenge with work but I am hoping to have the hoop coop done by then. Just need to build the door today.

I guess it matter how you feel about her pooping in your house. My muscovy are nasty in that department. I would put in the shade somewhere, but that's your decision.

she is in a verikennel so all contained :) I left her outside.. by 8am her buddy took off, havent seen her all day and didnt come back to roost. Hopefully tomorrow she will be back. IN the mean time I finished the hoop coop except for the perimeter hardwire to prevent digging in. her crate is in there now and I am thinking tomorrow I will let her loose in the coop. There is alfalfa and green grass/weeds which I am not happy about but she will he happier having room to walk around Im sure.
