Gah, I feel like I'm making a new thread every other day. I hope the duck community here doesn't mind; I'm still newer to keeping ducks so I keep racing here for advice every time a doubt/concern comes up.

I was just outside and feeding the ducks their dinner when one of my hens belatedly runs up to join the feast. I notice her left wing is hanging down...She is about 13 weeks old, and--raising her mother and father from when they were ducklings, and with all her other siblings--I'm used to the ends of their wings dropping every now and again while they are still growing.

This doesn't look like that. Her whole wing droops; I have attached pictures. I am a little baffled as she has had no diet changes; we feed them Purina chicken scratch grains (I can find the exact one online if anyone would like me to) and she free ranges all day. They were weaned off of Mazuri Waterfowl Feed (the kibble kind) but that was over a week ago, probably over two.

I even picked her up, and also looking from the ground, examined her for other wounds, but there were none. She didn't seem in pain at all when I gently stretched out her wing half-way.

I have no idea if this will correct overnight, or if I'm worrying for nothing. But I figured I'd make a post, if this could possibly be angel wing or something else, to know what to do if this ever happens to my ducks again.

But who knows. Maybe I'm just being a nervous Nelly. :idunno (I tend to worry a lot...)

Is it hot? Mine do that when they are hot, and also when they are wanting to bathe. They just let their wings droop a bit. It's also possible there's a feather coming in that feels weird.

I didn't see any other signs of her being hot, but I didn't feel her beak/feet. She came up from the creek they range by so it could've been that she was bathing/thinking of bathing when I interrupted her.

I've seen my adult hen drooping her wings before, I've never seen just one wing hanging so I wanted to ask.

If she's still doing it once it cools off I think you need to do a thorough exam of her entire wing.

Edited to add:
Check the good side first and get an idea of how each joint moves and feels.

It got too late to go out again last night, but this morning I checked and it seems like her wing is still drooping. She was preening, so I gently disrupted her, and as she scootched away her wing still did it.

I'll go back out and do an examination, thank you for the reply.

Any way you can get a video of her so we can see how she is using it? You’ll have to upload it to Vimeo or you tube them copy paste here. Do you have mature drakes that might have grabbed her by the wing this could be a sprain?

I have one adult (is that what you mean by mature?) drake and then she has 13 'brothers' that are from the same clutch. I'm currently still trying to get rid of 11 of them...But I know they will peck at each other and I have seen wing grabbing before. Someone could have grabbed her wing and sprained it.

I'll try to get a video now.

Here is the video.

When I went outside they were bathing and splashing in the water--I did get a few videos of her bathing, but none show the wing very well. She was flapping it and preening it like it didn't bother her...

I can upload those too if you want.
