Muscovy hen's wing is hanging down...Help?

I don't think so. She's never had this droopy wing before it just suddenly appeared. I've never had this problem before with any of the other ducks.

Well if it doesn’t seem to bother her either it will correct itself or remain that way didn’t you say she can move it fine flap etc? Only thing I can see that might help is try wrapping it in correct position for support for a few days to a week sprains take a while to heal. Does she lift the wing up in normal position at all like when their flight feathers are coming in and they keep adjusting them correctly?

As far as I know, she can still flap it. I saw her flapping it the day after her wing started to droop, and she was also taking a bath and splashing around. I don't think I've really seen her flap it since then? But usually when I go out there to check on them she's either sleeping, preening, or doing something where she won't flap. (So I could just be missing it)

She does try to lift it up, just like that, but it always falls back down.

Wrapping could help her...I can understand how this could take a while to heal. Would she still be able to be with the flock or would I have to keep her separated? I think someone was saying something about not getting it wet?

I do have a yard where she couldn't get it wet, and at this point the ducks are starting to be independent so if I ended up having to keep her separate to wrap it I could keep her with another and it probably wouldn't be *too* stressful. (I would hope)

The reason you don’t want her getting in a pool or water source is because they use their wings for getting in and out of the pool at times and she might could drown. It would be best to keep her and a buddy in a separate area while she is wrapped.

Ah, I see.

So are you thinking I should wrap the wing, or give it a few more days? Looking back at the date that I made this thread, when I first saw the wing, it's been almost a week. With minor injuries like this I like to let them heal on their own, but I don't want her wing to remain drooping.

Then try wrapping and give it a week use vet wrap or take a pair of panty hose and cut the leg and slide over her making sure Wing is in proper alignment. Look up angel wing that might give you best idea on how to wrap so it stays put .

I have a question--is it okay to leave her in the yard with a drake, just the two of them? Right now the drakes are still friendly and nice to the hens, since they haven't started breeding. I just didn't know if its just the two of them if it would change anything.

Right now we're letting the hens grow out their wings, and the others are already flying and I feel like they could leave my poor girl.

Alright, that was what I was figuring.

My last question was; they live in an area where there is a little creek. It's only got one or two actual deep parts in it, and they have the natural bottom to get in and out of. There's no lip, so would it be alright to chance letting her stay out there? There are no kiddie pools she could get stuck in.

If not, I still have a yard with no water in it that she could get stuck in.

I’d keep her out of water except for head washing while wrapped
