Goodness! That's a lot of loss and emotion. My Muscovy was a rescue. We found her alone under a car in a parking lot at the beginning of the pandemic. None of the animal shelters had space and by the time they did, we had fallen in love with her.
We have a second flock of pekins -- raised from day old chicks -- at my son's house. They are emotionally normal!!! They give lots of pleasure with no troubles!!! The females are reliable layers at the moment although they will stop laying for the winter. Loving the Pekins made it impossible to turn away the rescues!!!
