Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Thank you, Buck. I have three more pictures that might help. The "pied" are due to the white and the "barred" is the stripes on the chest, correct? Some of mine have a lot of brown. I read black muscovies have the green, but nothing about brown. Is the brown typical? (The breeder had a wide variety of muscovies, including one that was silver/lavendar in color, but he also had wild ducks visiting now and then, so he really didn't know what mixes he had.)

The muscovy we had when I was in high school was white with a spot of black on its head and part of its wings and tail were black. I was surprised when I went to get these six that they were black. I actually like the darker colors and think they're really great ducks.
Yes, the brown are simply chocolates. When they have new feathers after a molt they can be shiny green like the black ones

Buck: I have been reading on here about chocolates and wondered. She did lose some of the brown after the molt. Two others were kind of brown. I am so impressed with the colors in Muscovy ducks. Having had Pekins and Roeuns, this is quite a change. Thank you for your help in identifying the color patterns.

Miss Lydia: I did check out the Muscovy Central site. Thank you.

My personal experience with chocolates is they fade in the warmer months and darker come the cold months... molting usually brings forth either white and/or dark chocolate feathering.

Of coarse genetics play a role, but that is how mine do it, i own a lot of chocolates, mainly females but did finally get one drake lol

Hello I've got a question if anyone feels like answering I don't have ducks yet only two drakes and I don't plan on getting any ducks for a while(couple months) so my top drake Lewis mates with my geese which is fine but now he's trying to mate with Clark my other drake will he injure Clark?ive had my roos mate with my other roos but they don't go inside or anything like a duck they only give a cloacal kiss so no injuries are done(not physically anyways) but will my drakes hurt each other internally?thanks for anyone willing to reply! :)

yeah i don't know why chocolate mix ducks do that, like i have a female one that i particularly talk a lot about on here and she was born a butterscotch chocolate color. well she turned blue she still has some chocolate on her but thats beside the matter, she's like blue! but like a pale in between blue. Sao if you don't have a pure chocolate I've determined the chocolate color will fade!

Well the decision was made for me the lt brown girl today has a very bloody tail. I have been trying to corner her all day to try to help her. We are very cold here, so it looks like we will cull her tonight. She won't let me near her to help her.

yeah that is awkward, um he might. and then make an infection and the bird can deteriorate from the inside out, or the bird will just poop out the sperm, yeah. and you know females mount and stuff to assert dominance. But males when males do it, they actually are doing it.... yeah...... please get them a female.... they'll be much happier, or maybe even a stuffed animal lol
