Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Some of my barred babies. They were the last to hatch for the season. I love this stage, seems like they have more feathers every time I look at them! I have some available if any one is looking for some. Blacks and blues

so cute! Do you have pictures of what they look like grown? can you PM me with shipping requirements, etc? I am in AZ.

While I have never heard of the "vet" you are speaking of...I found your necropsy pics interesting!  I think I am going to enjoy this thread!  TerriO

There are three vet reality shows, Dr. Pol, Dr. K and the Yukon one. No way I'd ever let Dr Pol touch anything of mine!

Glad you liked my necropsy pics. :D

Ok so here it goes. Bear with me I'm using a cell phone.

Lavender Drake x Chocolate Hen =
Black drakes split to chocolate and lavender

Black hens split to lavender since chocolate is sex linked and carried on the Z chromosome. Females are ZW and males are ZZ. The female is pass on the W chromosome to her daughters and will not carry the chocolate color. When females inherit the Z chromosome from their chocolate father they will show the color.

This is how chocolate is sex linked. A chocolate drake who is either chocolate or split to chocolate bred to a non chocolate female will produce chocolate females since they only need one copy of the gene to express the color. They will get the Z chromosome from their father which carries the chocolate gene.

Hope I explained it well.
