Everyone said my Stanford was ugly. I though was in love with his wagging tail, the way he puts on a show when he wants fed which I affectionately call " priss potting". He hisses, shakes his head and neck up and down and wags his tail. I love him even if he is honerny with my runners. I was blessed to get three more.

I've had runners, Pekins and Muscovies. They by far are the most affectionate. Beauty is what you make of it, I guess. I never saw him as ugly but maybe I could see how others do.

I've never been around a muscovy, but I've seen their huge legs and taloned feet! I'd imagine having to catch and hold a reluctant Scovy would be akin to trying to wrangle a VERY ornery goose!

Yeah, muscovies definitely have a face only a mama could love! But from what I hear they do have such wonderful personalities. <3
I have both an ornery gander and 4 drakes honestly my ducks are the worse to catch, but I wait till they go in of an evening and I walk in behind them once inside I can usually pick them up but they do put up a fight. my drakes aren't near as bad,. I do wear gloves . lol I wrap my ducks in a towel if I have to examine of clip a wing. Maybe I just bull headed but if I need to pick someone up I do it even my gander who usually turns to jelly once picked up. Therry you need to be able to pick your ducks up .

I do pick my ducks up. My drake just HATE it and he is massive and very hard to hold on to.

arm around wings and body and other hand holding feet. works nicely if you have some one to help so you can do the examining.

That's how I do. But I have no one who can handle my ducks nor will they know what to look for or do. Even if I tell them. They don't mess with the animals much. I do

The only way I can do it is if I hold him down and feel his throat arwa. Even then it will be very difficult
Hold him between you lower legs I've done this when clipping a wing, won't take long to examine him once you get him in the position. at least then you'll know there is nothing obstructing his air way.

Lol I clip wings as well and unless I sit on him there is nothing controlling that bird
