Muscovy keepers share your pics!

its beak is open and out of the membrane right next to the pip.I was hesitant to assist opening because i didn't want the membrane to dry up.Its big enough i can see the membrane around the baby.Yesterday it was still clear and veiny today its mostly just clear and i cant see veins at least on the end that i can see into.I figured id let it be unless it started struggling and trying to get out.....If i speak to it it gives me a few chirps and once and a while it startsmaking sounds similar to what my chickens do at night when they are going to sleep. Iv got the humidity around 70-90% mostly staying around 90 unless i have to open up the top a bit to cool it down
I believe that humidity is too high and you may get a sticky baby @Lacrystol and

@casportpony can help with humidity but I really think it's suppose to be in the low 60's range.
I'll see if i can find some info for you.

thanks its really hard to tell as its more humid down in the bottom where the humidity reader is sitting.I had the egg behind the thermometer but it felt pretty humid to the touch so i moved it above the thermometer with the humidity meter.Im sure the temp and humitity flux all around the tank....sigh wish i had a bator.Thought letting a broody would be less work...i was wrong lol

this gives a batter idea of what i am using.the humidity reader is sitting on the very bottom of the bowl .I just peaked and it was reading 60% i moved things around a bit and sat the egg higher in the bowl sitting on the cloth without draping the cloth over the egg

I just went outside and found my beautiful girl dead. She was laying on her side with her neck at an odd angle. Her feet are stretched out behind her. I'm almost certain it was botulism, there were some old watermelons I had thrown behind the fence but she'd never gotten into them before. I am heart broken and I really don't know what to do next. She had no symptoms other than being a little lazier than usual, but I thought it was from the heat. Can botulism take them that quickly? She was fine this morning and now she's gone. Rest easy my beautiful Quacks.

I have lots of trouble with too high humidity because of where I live. So almost half of my ducklings end up stuck in a too wet membrane and need help. What does the membrane look like? When it is too wet, it looks yellow and sticky.

If you end up having to assist, definitely wait until the blood vessels are gone. I have a video of me helping a duckling that was stuck:

By the way, letting the mother do it all usually is easier. They can control the humidity and temperature much better than a human or incubator. But sometimes there is a bad mother who doesn't take good care of her eggs.

It can take a few days and problem with our ducks is they don't usually show symptoms till it's too late alot of the time. Did you look her over to make sure she hadn't been attacked? If we even slightly suspect especially this time of year that our ducks could have botulism then start a flush activated charcoal is something i keep on hand all the time it can be mixed in their water so it's easy to give. I use it on my dogs and myself also. A/C can be found in antacid isles at most pharmacies and Walmart. Directions are in the sticky at top of duck thread on left hand side.
Such a pretty girl so sorry for your loss.

I had a duck go crazy when her ducklings began to hatch and tried to kill one the other died. I swore I'd be ready the next year and take the ducklings as they began hatching, she was the first to go broody well she ended up being the best mama ever. Sometimes first timers just don't have a clue. She is the only one of my 7 ducks that have hatched ducklings to do this.
