Muscovy keepers share your pics!

It looks clear and moist the are veins almost gone now.not bulging and red but the same width of the membrane and light pink.I just worry about helping before tyw yolk is absorbed.Should it peep loudly and rock if its trying to get out? .name="HannahDuckLover" url="/t/130753/muscovy-keepers-share-your-pics/15000#post_15709900"]

I have lots of trouble with too high humidity because of where I live. So almost half of my ducklings end up stuck in a too wet membrane and need help. What does the membrane look like? When it is too wet, it looks yellow and sticky.

If you end up having to assist, definitely wait until the blood vessels are gone. I have a video of me helping a duckling that was stuck:

By the way, letting the mother do it all usually is easier. They can control the humidity and temperature much better than a human or incubator. But sometimes there is a bad mother who doesn't take good care of her eggs.

I just went outside and found my beautiful girl dead. She was laying on her side with her neck at an odd angle. Her feet are stretched out behind her. I'm almost certain it was botulism, there were some old watermelons I had thrown behind the fence but she'd never gotten into them before. I am heart broken and I really don't know what to do next. She had no symptoms other than being a little lazier than usual, but I thought it was from the heat. Can botulism take them that quickly? She was fine this morning and now she's gone. Rest easy my beautiful Quacks.

sorry for your loss.
when my chicken was sick with the symptoms of poisoning, my vet told me he didn't believe chickens (and other poultry) can get poisoned of a molded food. therefore, old watermelons couldn't kill her. if it was anything else she wouldn't have been able to raise her head so you would have noticed that. she was so beautiful.

Hello everyone. So I got 3 ducks four weeks ago and they were very little. The person I got the ducklings from was given the eggs and was told they were Muscovy. I noticed two of the ducks were huge and only one was small. I made the decision to purchase a few female Muscovies that were around 5 weeks old from a local breeder. When I brought the ducks home from the local breeder they were so much smaller than my ducks. So now I am questioning which ones are Muscovies and which one aren't?
Here are a few pictures hope they are clear enough. The tails are very different than each other too. The 5 week old ducks have very long tails and the bigger ducks have very short tail feathers.
These are my orignial three the two yellows are huge now, bigger feet and bigger bodies than the brown duck.

The two ducks in the front are the original ducks and the ones under the chicken coop are the new ones. NOT the best photos of them to show the size. The yellow duck in the far back is one of my bigger ones and the one in front of him is supposed to be older.

My biggest duck is to the right of the photo and the two ducks I just got are in the pool.

Maybe this photo is a little better show the size difference between my 5 week old Muscovies I got today and the 4 week old ducks I got when they hatched.

If anyone could help me figure this out I would be very grateful.

Here is Buddy. He or she is a lot smaller than the clutch. This is the one they had almost pecked to death. The beak seems to be healing nicely. She acts a little slower, has some shortness of breath on a lot of exertion but adapts. Her bottom mandible on her bill seems to protrude. I tried again to reintroduce them. The lead sibling pecked her immediately with another following suit. I don't think they will ever take it back in. I'm at a loss on what to do. Just keep her pinned up and wait? She is next door to another momma who has one week olds. So she isn't as lonely but I'm sure they won't take her in either. Thoughts?

Just my inexperienced self here but Pekings are big and white.

First of all Buddy looks like a doll. What ever he might be. But 7 day chicks might be the best ones to put Buddy in with. They wont be as competitive with him. He is probably not combative himself and if not done yet put him on antibiotics. Infection lies deep. Buddy might be the older slower sibling they come to adore. Mom too hopefully. Don't know if you don't try. If Buddy is too much for them, cause I don't know his age you may have too keep him separate till he is normal again. You might find someone who wants to care of him and love him very much.
