I have been browsing through this thread for the past few hours. lol Slow night at work. ;) I finally let my husband talk me into getting some ducklings to go on our little farm. We both like Muscovies soooooo we'll have 11 arriving tomorrow morning! I used Country Hatchery and got 5 black pied, 5 blue pied. They left me a voicemail and said they put a free one in there. :) I can't wait!

congrats! best decision ever.

I have always wanted chickens, but when I got my muscovies I was impressed. they are smart, look as if they are capable of thinking, have feelings and they are so easy to grow.
 
I've always liked ducks, but I thought the upkeep would be too much. I think my biggest issue would be the pond/pool for them. I've read a lot of articles about putting a drain in the pool to be able to empty it easier. I hope we can get that to work. My husband is building a 20x20 enclosed run for them but they will be able to free range as well. I'm excited to eat duck eggs. lol I know we have a long time til that happens, but I'm looking forward to it.
I know this may be an odd question...but do ducks roost? Do we need to put roosting bars in the coop like we do with chickens?

mine don't roost. and they don't need a pond. mine prefer shallow water and when I had a deeper plastic bath they preferred to have a bath in a water dish, lol.
