Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Yikes! Glad you were able to save the duck!! Yes, dogs would certainly help. We have three great pyreneese/great pyre crosses to guard our chickens. They have made a huge difference, we used to lose several dozen birds a year, now we hardly lose any. I hope you can catch that pesky fox before you lose anything else.

If you have any outdoor animals, Livestock Guardian Dogs make a huge difference! My male stayed up all last night protecting my bantam ducks. I was woken up so many times last night. I would look out and see him sitting by them and growling and barking into the night. His voice was hoarse this morning but he never left them. And he is still a puppy.

This was him around 5 a.m. protecting my ducks. I have never seen him so angry before.

We had our first week of winter. Snow on Saturday, on Sunday afternoon everything melted. Frost every morning. Because of the weather urban foxes had less food and visit us every night. I went out to buy bread down the road and when I was passing by my garden could see from the street a fox holding my black and white muscovy female!!!!!! Thank God I came at that time. Everyone is alive and unharmed except for this duck's wing...
I honestly hate foxes.
Is my only hope getting a dog?!?!?! I've never seen a fox at day time in my garden. That was 15 minutes before sunset. Last night it was digging around my rabbit cages. I set the traps. We are waiting.

Did you catch that fox yet?

How are seeds bad for them?? What do u think they lived on before being domesticated?? Grains and different vegitation. All grain get broke down in the gizzard and crop. Mibe eat Acorns, Corn, Soybeans, Peanuts and oats all the time. In the winter all they will eat is whole grains and a little bit of layer. Other wise they will go without eating.
I read somewhere that 90% of muscovie's diet is greens. I don't know about others but mine prefer greens. I feed them whole corn as well together with some fermented wheat, and many treats (like boiled eggs which they love!).

No, I haven't caught it yet but it got trapped in the rabbit spring coil trap because it was locked and string stretched, which means it escaped. Well... at least it got scared! Hopefully it won't come back. I set the traps again. Also I set the snares. I caught one in snare last winter and another one in the live trap this summer.

Central Texas is wonderful. It does get WARM in the summer (can be 105!) But our winters are mostly balmy. Yesterday was 60 today was 55. Come join us! So far this year we have only had 2 nights of freezing. I'll take that to the snow any day!
it seems you have the same weather like me in greece, near athens.

Sounds a lot like where I am too, I live about 50 miles from Death Valley and 70ish miles from Las Vegas....not too many freezing nights and so far only a few days that the temp stayed below 40° F.

Hopefully you put the fear into it.

I want one of those dogs. most of my dogs that I have are mutts and rescues as we see to give them a home. And we have chihuahua and a poodle to ( the happy things) and the other dogs are totally mixed with lab and others a hound, we have a boxer to. And all of them want to apparently attack my ducks :( there's 1 Newfoundland/ golden retriever/ something that just loves my ducks he will go and sit by them ( if he ever is near them) and he just is a love bug, I don't know if he would protect them though he is rather old and he now has cancer in one of his legs :(
