My guineas usually go into a dog kennel, that I set up for them, to roost. The last couple nights they have been trying to roost in a gigantic tree so my son climbs it and boots them out and then we catch them and lock them up. If I miss one, 9 times out of 10, an owl picks it off. They must be awfully tasty. Ugh
And I have trained ducks to go in at night, so it is possible. A lot of times ducks wait until they see you coming and then waddle their fluffy butts in. Right now I can't even let my small ducks out or they get killed.
And too freaking cute! What a great little broody hen. My Red Laced Blue Wyandotte Bantam went broody recently but it's so cold I haven't given her any eggs. She tries pecking me when I check for eggs, as two of my hens keep squeezing in and laying next to her, but I just pet her and send her out to eat. It's much too cold for her to be going without food and water. I can't wait to get her a new boyfriend. I had a little Roo for her but a skunk killed him. He was so adorable. I lucked out and picked out a girl and boy, accidentally, at my local feed store.
I was thinking about giving her some Bantam duck eggs here March or so.
And my Muscovy ducklings are stinking us out! I clean out their cage every two days but it is not enough! I wish Spring would hurry and get here so I could set them up outside.
