Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Funny pic in my head of mama hen with her little ducklings behind her going inside at night. :love but at least she trained them to go inside. Mama hens are awesome.

She was a fantastic hen! I've noticed that the most aggressive ones make the best mothers. She used to bully other hens so I said to her (literally lol) "if you keep doing that then I'm gonna eat you tomorrow!" And the very next day she went broody!!! I gave her 8 duck eggs and she hatched them.
Three months later fox ate her but the ducks were still going inside the coop in the evening...

Aww poor mama but she taught her babies well.

I have a Cochin hen who decided to go broody so I gave her some duck eggs... DON'T DO IT!! It is to cute!! BUT the duck hens court the roosters and avoid the drakes who chase thrm down to breed...

My guineas usually go into a dog kennel, that I set up for them, to roost. The last couple nights they have been trying to roost in a gigantic tree so my son climbs it and boots them out and then we catch them and lock them up. If I miss one, 9 times out of 10, an owl picks it off. They must be awfully tasty. Ugh

And I have trained ducks to go in at night, so it is possible. A lot of times ducks wait until they see you coming and then waddle their fluffy butts in. Right now I can't even let my small ducks out or they get killed.

And too freaking cute! What a great little broody hen. My Red Laced Blue Wyandotte Bantam went broody recently but it's so cold I haven't given her any eggs. She tries pecking me when I check for eggs, as two of my hens keep squeezing in and laying next to her, but I just pet her and send her out to eat. It's much too cold for her to be going without food and water. I can't wait to get her a new boyfriend. I had a little Roo for her but a skunk killed him. He was so adorable. I lucked out and picked out a girl and boy, accidentally, at my local feed store.

I was thinking about giving her some Bantam duck eggs here March or so.

And my Muscovy ducklings are stinking us out! I clean out their cage every two days but it is not enough! I wish Spring would hurry and get here so I could set them up outside.

When ever I have babies I keep them in my room with me lol, I try to clean out their box twice a day if it's not summer then I clean it before I go to school and when I get home ( I just use a big box and a heat lamp and use paper towels as bedding) i go through a whole package of 8 paper towel rolls a week when I have them. And I have to change the box every three days when they get bigger, but not big enough to move into the garage yet and then once they get there flight feathers they go outside with everyone XD but just to add during the time I do have them in the house we do have adventures outside like talking with the older ducks and playing in the tiniest of puddles ( now I want more babies lol) so the grown ducks are already associated with them

Thanks Harbor! She isnt little though! She is a really big standard cochin!

My ducks have always gone in. I didnt even have to train them. They just follow the chickens in.

That's awesome that your ducks just do what they are supposed to. And I just love her color. It's so pretty.

I have my Muscovy ducklings in a cattle waterer but they are just getting to that awkward and very messy (stinky) stage. They are still really cute though. I need to get them all cleaned out today. And I have kept lone babies or even an injured goose in with my kids before. When a Roo attacked our goose when she was nothing but a big baby, we kept her and her boyfriend in a bathtub for a week. She was pretty ripped up and I didn't think she would make it though. He ripped her neck up pretty bad. But being swaddled in the tub and with us cleaning her wounds and babying her, she pulled through. She is the goose in my profile picture. She is still really friendly. She cuddles with you whenever you pick her up.

I think she will end up being a great momma goose this Summer.

And any certain age you introduce your ducklings to the adults?
