Muscovy keepers share your pics!

So I'm going to try something new. I'm going to keep this Lilac duckling in my bed room and pet it and play with it all day and see how tame I can get it. So I can walk around animal swaps showing her off. Do you think she is too old? This is her setup.

I think she may be a silver? Also does she look like a she?

Looks like a silver. I see brown tones in your pictures which would mean shes not lavender

OK cracker jacks...

here is a befuddlement for you.

Muscovy duck...sitting on eggs ..... Incubated and hatched with zero help.

One of the ducklings (same one each time) has run away from mom twice now!

What insanity is this?

It found a small exit in the small nesting area that mom and other ducklings are happily staying in..... and ran away. Far away. Twice now.

Since when does such a thing happen?

Why is it not bonded?

Even after leaving the fenced brooding spot where mom and other ducklings are happily locked up, and running the gauntlet through a large chicken flock... TWICE

the little tyke is uninjured.

(they started hatching on Sunday.)

Does anyone know what size duck diaper I'd need for a 5 week old ducklings? I think I might trade her for my younger chocolate duckling. She is clawing me up a lot but calms down fast.

New babies! I'm pretty sure Chaz is the papa duck.

what color is this white juvenile? Shes pretty much solid white but on the side of her neck, tail and chest, there's light brown bars?

Lavender is a smooth grey (can be light or dark but not too different between the two). No lacing and no other shades to it.
Blue can be light or dark. Heads tend to be darker and there's usually lacing. Which helps in differentiating between that and lavender.
Blues can have brown tones, usually seen on chest and tail, as juveniles, but it should molt out. This just means they carry color.
If blue and brown tones all over, then it's a lilac. Lilac also come in light and dark shades like blue.

That's very helpful thank you!

I see blue fawn thrown around, is that just another way of saying they are blue, but also chocolate carriers, like my girls? They are all over a year now, and have molted a few times and it almost seems stronger now vs. molting out. Do you think that means it'll stay that way?

Thank you again all, for all your help!

Blue fawn is simply another term used for lilac. Same color. It's a combination of blue and chocolate.
Females cannot carry chocolate. If they do not express the color (chocolate or lilac for example) then they do not have chocolate genes
