Muddy babies!

My guess looking at size, feet and head shape
Goose - Drakelet, Second fm left of Goose - Drakelet. Your last two on the right look like girls though they are pretty young yet. It should be easier to tell in another 2 wks. You can pretty much tell at 6-8wks.

I know! The constant crappy weather here is not helping with the mud situation! I had to take pictures because I couldn't believe how big they are getting! Thanks for the info...I am really hoping that I didn't end up with 3 boys and 1 girl. Time will tell! Thanks again.

Nice Scovies Cheryl, are those blue eyes on your white Scovy?

A group of my Scovies like to lay against the chook yard fence also. I have 4 EE free ranging youngsters, daily escapees actually, who have learned that the Scoives have bowls of grain, duck chow and plenty of water available so instead of jumping back into the chook yard for an extra bite are making a habit of raiding the Scovies.

Yes Pearls eyes are light blue, so pretty.

So far the scovies lay and watch the chicks and beg for treats from me when I go out to feed and water. lol They are such fun birds to have. They are 12 weeks old this week and are already starting to get lift when they run around flapping their wings like crazy. I half expect to look out my window and find my 3 girls have up and flown the coop. I am contemplating wether or not to clip their wings.

I am contemplating wether or not to clip their wings.

Our adults had their wings clipped when we bought them. We decided not to clip the ducklings or our adults once they molt. We have predators around and noticed the Scovies can move much quicker if they can get a bit of lift fm their wings. Right now if our adults try to flap to move quicker they go sideways and loose their balance which looks a bit comical but won't help to get away fm a fox or coon (or my broom when they are up on the Front Porch.

) Now, if they start flying up onto the house roof or sitting on the car .... we may just have to revisit the clipped wing issue.

I'd like to get a duclair pied with blue eyes one day. Oh, and a chocolate Scovy. And maybe a dark ripple.

Thanks for sharing your Scovies w/us.

I dont think I will clip their wings un;ess they fly off and my neighbors complain/ Hopefully that wont happen, and they seem to be fairly content in our fenced yard. I guess I will just have to wait and see how it goes.

I am new to raising Scovies, so I dont know what all the different colors look like. I have seen some pictures, and have read lots of discriptions, but if I was to just see the colors, I dont think I would know what to call the not so obvious color paterns. So I soak up every little bit of information I can about them. lol Just call me an information spunge if you will.

So far my four have been nothing but a joy to have around, and even my husband, "who I got in trouble with when I got them." has fallen in love with their personalities.

Same here. I started reading up on Muscovies late last year and we found and bought our first Scovies around March of this year. I am learning a lot by reading and just by experiencing these sweet Scovies first hand and really trying to observe behavior patterns etc. It's been fun.
