Here is an update on my baby scovies. They are almost 8 weeks old now, and I just thinned out the flock. They have grown so much, so fast, that their pen was getting to be unmanageable!

These are my favorite four that I kept. Lined up for the ritual tossing of the treaties...

A nice shot of my favorite ducklet, Penelope.

And one of her as-yet-unnamed brothers.

I simply adore these little guys!

Thanks keeper!

They really are nice. I tried to consider body type first when I made the decision on which ones were staying. Of course personality played a part, too.

The males are huge! These are my first young muscovies, and I had no idea that they would outgrow their mother before they were 2 months old. What big boys!

Well, the popular opinion is that my "found and rescued" duck is a 'scovy, so I'll share some of his pics here!

Under very close supervision, Quackmire Duck loves to give Stubbs dog a good rubdown..... (and Stubbs often gets dreamy eyed, and occasionally drifts off to sleep.....)

But he also enjoys outside time

And nobody told him that 'scovies don't like water. He loves his kiddy pool.....Dives under the water and shoots across the pool at breakneck speed.... I hope he never out grows that

I have no idea how old he is, we have guessed him to be around 7 weeks based on how small he was when he was found, and how long we've had him. (5 weeks)

We just ordered him a diaper harness that I'm sure he will absolutely hate at first.
