Hopefully this works.. first time uploading a Youtube video... Anyway, we had just rearranged the fencing and hadn't finished putting up the outer layer of hardware cloth around the bottom yet..which is why its laying everywhere lol (don't worry, it was finished before night came) This is my ducks first time out free ranging, well the first time they were allowed out and it wasn't an escape attempt

I officially have two boys and two girls so the one boy will go to Chickenstock in September and maybe my Muscovy Apollo will get a girlfriend of his own kind... We'll see...

I have a full Swede, thats the boy Quackers
A half Swede, half something (the swede people said because she wasnt filled out by now she was probably a mix) Bean
and Cheese(the white one with brown splotches) is unidentified. Ive asked different people and no one seems to have the same opinion on what she is... So Im taking it as she is a mix. But I love her to death cause shes my cuddle buddy

A question... How do you get ahold of a four month old Muscovy who does NOT want to be held? Its past time to clip his wing but hes taken to the keepaway game...

When you put them up at night, I just had to clip the wing on my 2 youngsters, Watch out for their claws they hurt.

Gloves, long sleeves and two people, you want to get them in a corner.. i usually gently(!) grab the neck lower part down by the body and scoop the rest of the bird, ensuring those wings are tucked, those HURT to get whacked with. I do this with huge 'scovy drakes...

UGHHH My favorite of the three non Scovy ducks, is a boy.. That makes three boys and a girl... I hate those stupid curly feathers... Guess that leaves me looking for at least one more female so that Bean wont be overworked by my Apollo...



Look at how red his face is getting my mom thinks he looks like an alien but I think hes adorable

And now... my poor Cheese.. cuddle buddy or not, Apollo is the boss and I don't have the room for two drakes

I see it and I know this is hard for you, Thats why I have another drake added to my already too many boys. He sure is such a handsome guy look at that face. . Is there anyway you could add more girls and separate them if the start on each other, thats what I do here I'll put one drake in the very back lot my older in the smallest area and will be using the front for my youngest next year. You won't have to deal with this till then. [next year]

Adorable! and yes, i know all to well how hard this is. I am drake land here.. that seems to be all i ever get lol Anyways, is it possible to do what Miss Lydia said? I am going down to two drakes.. my oldest guy a real puppy dog and one of my 9wk old from my last hatch...

My moms duck rule is 4 ducks. She is very firm on that one. We only have the one 20x10 space, with free range time in the afternoons, so it would be hard to separate them... Plus Apollo is already starting to show dominance over the two boys, grabbing their neck feathers and chasing them around. He leaves the girl alone though..for now. I may sell Quackers and get a girl to keep Bean company. But I might be able to convince my mom to let me set up another area for Cheese so he can chill (Ill switch out the girls every few days so he wont get lonely. Just wont get picked on)

Oh how I wish I had gotten into something where boys are good.... like rabbits. Of course then, I would have gotten all girls.
