I just thought I'd show you all what Jake looks like. He is my girls boy toy lol because i raised them and had to go get him. He has a very bad habit of getting out of the pen and standing in the rain when it rains. that is him in the first pic
My Muscovy do the same thing! They love hanging out in the rain and seem to get even more excited, diving and chasing each other in the pond. I just think they are sooo cool!

Pretty hardy guys. Need to feed hi-protien gamefowl food - like for turkeys, not regular chicken feed while young anyway.
Other than that.... should be good to go. Open water is fine but scovies can make do with a kiddie pool perfectly well. They do fly well, tho the males may get too heavy to. And they can perch like chickens do.

Sometimes early season hatched ducks will start laying fall the same year but usually have to wait til next spring.
Seasonal layers, can lay 3-4 clutches a year. Generally 12-22 eggs in a clutch. Once they get serious about brooding will pluck down and clamp down - 37 days to hatch. So egg production is good but they are dual purpose and meat is considered a delicacy, less greasy, veal like in texture.

ENJOY!
