She doesn't seem to mind. She wasn't raised from a duckling either. She is just pretty calm. Freaks out if you pick her up though. However she has bumblefoot. I have been treating it with oral baytril and triple antibiotic ointment. I lanced it twice but could not find any pus or a core. She is acting much healthier and walking around a little more but the wounds don't look too much different but didn't look red the last time I checked.
have u tried coconut oil?? Natural anti bacterial and anti fungal. Works for everything!! Puddles didn't want to come inside tonight! It's his first night out! I'm so sad!!!

Sorry its a change of subject but can anyone help me wa this

Takes for ever it seems for toes to stop bleeding, how is she doing now? when mine got her toenail cut off I thought she'd bleed to death I tried the powder to stop bleeding then flour just had to put pressure and finally it did stop. soak her foot in some Epson salt water [warm to help dissolve the salt] it will help speed healing and also soak her foot you have been treating in it. 2 cups to 1 gallon of warm water for 10min 2X a day. but don't let her drink the water ES has a laxative effect.

I have bathed her foot in clean warm water as I didn't know what else to do at the time, then put pressure on it with a bit of tissue.

It stopped bleeding after what seemed like ages and Iv kept her in the house on her pillow so I could keep an eye on her. My other two keep trying to get at her toe so I keep chasing them away from it.
She seems fine and is walking fine but when she thinks im not looking she has a nibble at it.

I will bathe her foot in epson salt to make sure it stays clean.

Thank you so much miss lydia you are awesome xxx

yep chopped = crack corn

If you sprout those oats they'll have a lot more fans. Can do indoors. Scatter them regularly in a moist area if you have one - has to stay that way for them to sprout.

Ok, so were on the same page... cracked corn, ya they promote whole corn, who knows? finding knowledgeable people on ducks around here, well heck i'd have better luck chasing that rainbow.

I could sprout the oats, i'll try and grab a few more, i should just stick them in the muddy areas around their pools.

Keep some quick stop around(i know spelled some other darn way lol) and pressure! my one duck whom i bought as a 6-7mth came with a bleeding ripped off nail, guess the breeder couldn't catch her.Never grew back either.

Needs to be whole oats - not crimped, rolled, steamed or anything else. Can't sprout if the seed germ has been trashed.
What about wheats? Millet? Sunflowers? Peas? Many don't want soy in thier food chain in anyform. Be careful you don't get coated stuff for gardens.

Theres great info on sprouting and fermenting can be searched out on this site. Increases nutriant value.

If you can find local growers you can stock up from thier harvests and save a bundle buying direct.
Course you have to store.

They are whole oats, i do give them BOSS sometimes, just mix in it with the staple feed. Peas? well the 4 "babies" get some but the adults can go find their own treats right now lol Nowhere local actually nearest feed mill is 20mins one way from me... the feedmill in town closed down many years ago but was never full on anyways.
