Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I have them penned again . . . My new neighbors aren't poultry-friendly. I'm zoned okay for everything I've got but I don't want to push it. I'm already going to have to ask their permission for putting in fencing around my pond (because it would only be 15 ft from the property line instead of 20). I'm hoping I will be pleasantly surprised by their answer . . .

Good luck! so glad i don't have to deal with any of that, i hope they see your POV>

I'm hoping . . . I originally bought this place because I would be able to have pretty much whatever I wanted without zoning issues. Now they are making changes. A local family that had a dairy/cattle farm for over 50 years ended up in a huge legal battle when the new neighbors decided they didn't like the smell, noise, etc. of the farm next door. And this place had more than enough acreage, proper zoning, etc. But it cost them thousands in legal fees, etc. Even though they were in the right. They ended up getting rid of their small herd. It's a shame. If you don't like the smells, sights, and sounds of a farm, don't buy a house next to a farm!!!

Idjits!

I now have 3 muscovey ducks sitting and one hen. They keep stealing each others eggs. My silver duck keeps picking on one of the other ducks and runs her off the nest. She done stole her nest and wont let her have it back. Dont know why she is been such a bully.

I've heard Muscovies(spelling?) Don't need much water. Is this true? How much do they need? I adore them and would love to have one,but simply don't have a real pond

Many duck owners don't have a 'real' pond . . . ducks can be very happy with a little kiddie pool. You could check Craigslist for the decorative preformed pools, too. I've seen those set up quite nicely for ducks . . .

Does any of you lovely people want to take a guess at what sex my two muscovys are? (cause I have no idea, please ignore the ramdom names my daughter picked) This is Charlie he is 10 weeks old he is quite and does little chirps still he is dark brown/black

Well, even after I clipped their wings, the Muscovies managed to push their way out of their enclosure. So I guess they really don't want to be in there any more. They moved themselves into the coop with the rest of the ducks and chickens. The chocolate hen is getting picked on by one of my Easter Egger hens something terrible! She (the chocolate) is more timid and gets pushed around by the other Muscovy hen already. The Easter Egger (Gracie#2) goes at her talons first, jumps on her back, and pecks at her. This hen normally gets along with the rest of the ducks just fine - it's just the chocolate she doesn't seem to like. She leaves the dominant Muscovy alone . . .
I'm hoping my new neighbors are both at work all day tomorrow as I have to work, too. I haven't had a chance to go over and talk to them about the 'new' ducks and the fact that they may not stay on my property as well as the rest of the flock. I'm hoping they will stick with the rest of the ducks and play in and around the pond . . .
