Hey guys, I guess I own a muscovy now! I'll post some pictures of the little thing tomorrow. I fell prey to her completely on accident. I went out to a farm with my friend, who needed a duck to keep his single sole survivor company, and they had day old muscovy ducklings...you know how it goes.
Anyway. I only wanted a girl, so I decided to vent sex them. I double and triple checked the one I picked, and she doesn't seem to have boy parts. The problem is, I checked seven others too and I didn't see any boy parts! I've been vent sexing welsh harlequins, pekins, and even three black swedish ducklings this year and I've always always seen some boy parts. I've only been wrong twice so far. Still, eight out of eight seemed to be girls. Now, the mother duck hatched 20 ducklings and they only showed me eight...but what are the odds that all eight they grabbed were girls? Are muscovies different? Harder to do? I just hope she doesn't turn out to be a boy, because if she does, she'll have to go...
Still, I took the smallest one as an extra precaution, and she really really doesn't seem to have boy parts after three sexing attempts, so fingers crossed. I'm calling her Chocolat, and she's adorable.
I have been having problems on IE had to use chrome to do my pic uploads.Apparently I can't load pictures today . . .anyone else having issues?

And Fertile Myrtle sitting on her eggs. (She picked a wierd spot this year.. we have a "wood Room" attatched to our house, and its above a little crawlspace type thing in our basement, and we use the wood room as storage during the summer when we aren't burning wood to keep warm, well Myrtle decided that the Wood Room was a good room for her eggs!! LOL!)

Wow! That's quite a change!
The man I bought these from didn't have ducks - she just showed up in his goat shed along with another hen and started a nest. This hen won the broody duck battle for the nest. He wanted me to take the other two adults but I wasn't sure how 2 drakes and 4 hens would be.
The drake isn't allowed in with the new mama and babies. I didn't want anyone getting run over, etc. or fights. Mama has her own run to feel safe with the babies in. I just wasn't expecting Razzy to fly over and get her! Now he can't, lol. He paces outside the run and slept beside it last night!
