Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Thank you Miss Lydia. I'll take a look at them.
If you have Muscovy's and other breeds you wanting to keep separate for breeding you may want to talk to some on here who have breeding pens set up, right off hand I think of Celtic Oaks Farm she has a website and also an email address she maybe able to give you some ideas.

So maybe its a duck. Thought it was a drake
Black and white 9/15 when I brought home before bath.

taken 9/30

Taken 10/21

Hasn't gotten much bigger as of today
The speckled one I had just gotten 10/20 was told about 4-5 mo old.

along with the white one. No new pics.
Need some up to date pics. leg stance in second pic makes me think drake. I love the duck in the bottom pic on the left would like to see this one now too. It has a girly face.

Maybe a duck after all. although I see my young ones drake and 2 ducks going into several nesting areas checking things out, I call it playing house. Happy Birthday to your DD's wow that a lot of celebrating

I live in East Texas, so I would say I live in a warm climate.  The heat is probably a bigger concern here than the winter cold.  Although it has been down to 28 the past couple of nights, we usually don't have more than 2 or 3 nights in a row that gets that cold before it warms up for a while.  We might get one bad ice storm a year.

My main concern is how to build a coop or duck house that will allow me to keep multiple breeding populations separate during the breeding season.  I have two populations of muscovy that will need to be kept seperate and the domestic Rouen.  Additionaly I will be getting Silver Appleyards next year, so there is another group that will need to be kept separate during breeding season.

I may need to consider building a couple of different coops with dividers which open into separate pens or runs.

Thanks

All you need is good fencing.

And

In each separate run you need a nest box, some way to keep the food dry, something for shade, and a place to get out of the wind and rain, which can be the same thing as the nest box, if for a nest box you make a box big enough for everyone to shelter into.

The above can be as simple as a table and a sheet of plywood.

Looks like a duck in these pics more so than drake. not much carnucling at all. do you have any idea how old?

No, not really...:-(
He/she was found at the side of the road and brought to me later on. I think it`s (

) about 8 weeks now.
Funny thing: my other ducklings had little fluffy wings, starting to grow feathers this age, but this one has naked wings. Is that normal?

Seems like my youngest drake was slow to get his wing feathers. It doesn't look naked in the pic looks nice and feathered in. but can't really see the wings, I doubt it's anything to worry about.

Drakelets tend to get wing feathers last, no hard and fast rules but that is what i have seen... um, let's see if i have some pics from last years bigger clutch.. Not sure this is the best one BUT anyways, the lone duck in this whole group is at the back second from the left the rest are all boys in this clutch, with the exception of "mama" Lilly, these were not related to her but she nest stole so that is how she got these lol
