I had lots of muscovies and still 2. This spring um going to get lots more. My problem is they wanted.to fly outside the fenced in pond area of 2 acres and waddle across the road. I almost got a citation. I considered raising a different breed but my heart just isn't into other breeds. Other than rounding them up as they mature and clipping their wings, any other suggestions?

As Frank says clipping one wing is about all you can do to keep them contained.

ah, the age old question! why did the duck cross the road.

As said wing clipping and/or a net are likely all you can do. I am fortunate while none of mine are(clipped) they don't fly off the property, it's a concern but with mine free ranging i feel any other alternative makes them vulnerable.

All stuff for them is in this pond fenced area, right? times like this you wish they could talk so you could figure out what is so appealing on the "other side"

What does everybody feed their Muscovy's. I feed mine hen scratch laying pellets and a special type of pellet that also has crushed corn with it.

Mine get All Flock maintenance but none of mine are old enough to lay yet.

mine get whole corn, scratch feed, black oil sunflower seed, and they of coarse eat the chickens laying feed as well.

I make fermented feed for my flock Purina Flock raiser/7wayscratch/whole oats and dried split peas all mixed together with warm water and ACV mixed together and poured over.

I want to see if anyone raises chocolate or blue barred or rippled Muscovy ducks and if so do you ever sell hatching eggs or ducklings? I am interested in getting some but not in no big hurry.

Hey neighbor kind of we're in yancey co. I have chocolate /white not solid chocolate. I also have blue/white you can go to my profile to see pics. Maybe West Knoll Amy might have what your looking for she is in SC.
