Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Just out of curiosity, the girls have 12 eggs in one box now and they take turns sleeping on them overnight but nobody's broody and staying in there during the day yet.
They've also thrown out 4 other eggs that had soft shells.
Is having a mumma on there at night but not during the day going to hurt the eggs?

That is ao fantastic to hear. I thought I had an odd boy on my hand.
Fat Tone and his three sisters were 2 & 1/2 wks old when I got them and I had them inside till they were about 7wks old.
None of them were very friendly because they were with mumma before that but Tone comes to me for chats. The gals are friendlier too now they're laying. They all detest my boyfriend though.
Maybe his is too fast around them, Ducks like it slow and easy except when they are going after something then they can be pretty fast. and loud when they want to. lol Opie my drake that we raised, only because his mama didn't want him, is the only one of our ducks that actually comes to us for petting the rest will come up to me if I have food but really don't want me to touch them. Which is okay I still enjoy having them around, but I do find that drakes are more personable than the ducks even my other 3 drakes they would eat out of my hand quicker than the ducks did. I love drakes actually. Except when they want to fight grr then I feel like sending them to their rooms.

Yes, that is a problem. They would start incubating the eggs every night and then they would get too cold during the day and die.

I guess, the question would be....

Are they already growing, and if so, are they still alive?

If they are already growing and still alive, they probably need to be put into an incubator.

If they are not yet growing, then I would remove them and store them in the house, and replace them with fake eggs until one of the hens decides to brood properly.

For those of you that requested another picture of my muscovy to determine the gender, here you go :)

Her/his caruncles are growing daily! It is fun to watch for sure. So what do you think now- male or female?

He is definitely too fast around them. I'm constantly reminding him that he needs to be less flighty becuse he frightens them.
I don't think he'll ever get it lol.
I must admit I love Fat Tony more than the girls for the same reason you're saying. He's just got so much more personality and bravado.
What I'd really like to do is hand raise some of thier babies and replace my second small flock with them. I know it sounds mean spirited but the new gang are just so unrewarding. They're petrified of humans and they just spend thier whole day hanging out in thier pen even though the door is wide open to the yard.
I'd really love to have 'pet' ducks.

So if I take them and put them inside, how long do they have before they need to be incubated?
I'd love to incubate them but my boyfriend is frustrated that we have spent so much money on the duckies and haven't covered any costs so far in eggs or ducklings.
This results in me needing to jutify the cost of an incubator and power etc THEN once they hatch, where would I raise them? Baden would never agree to having babies next to the lounge fireplace again:-(
It is all so frustrating and a litte heart breaking.

well, fresh eggs, sitting on the counter, in an egg carton fat end up, they are perfectly wonderful for a week and maybe two. I think for best results you are supposed to turn them on occasion.

It sounds however, that your ducks might start brooding any day now. So, I would hope, fingers crossed, if you gave them fake eggs for a few days, one of them would start brooding, and then you could stick the real ones under her.

I haven't had my muscovy for a full year yet, and they have only brooded for me once so far (because I got them in the late summer, and now it is still super snowy), but when mine did NOT sleep on the eggs until they were ready to go broody.

Also, the first few days the duck was a terrible broody! I was so very paniced, because she was off of the nest for hours. Anyway, it turns out that that is typical, and after I think day 3 she settled down and did a wonderful job.
