Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Just be careful with that leg band, they are made from hard plastic so it won't come off easily, the diameter is so calculated that they do no slip off the foot by themselves, so you cannot remove it just by pulling it off. Some of my ducks have been wearing leg bands for six years and are doing fine with them.

Hope your duck can make it! One of my muscovies was also limping when he was about that age, but recovered by himself...how is the duck eating now, what about her overall condition? Does she preen, does she socialize with your other duck? Sometimes, stress can cause a loss of appetite. Your duck is still unfamiliar with her new home and and if you have tried to get close to her this can increase the stress level.

I had to remove the last 5 eggs from the hens and put them in the incubator. They have been letting the eggs go cold while keeping the ducklings warm. This morning all the eggs were really cold so I took them and placed them in the incubator. 2 are internally pipped now and 3 not yet. I know when they eget cold then they get weak and can't continue. One was internaly pipped last night and still wasnt externally pipped this morning.

She has eaten something now. Thankfully! She's very stressed. She may even think I'm the cause of her problems as it started the moment she got here. I think she has an injury. It's not showing but when you see her trying to walk she just can't put much weight on her left leg. I'm trying to find a way to stay out of her way but still give her the care she needs. I just saw her eating something so I'm getting hopeful again. And yes, she's still preening herself from time to time...
