Muscovy keepers share your pics!

on broodiness: just not collecting the eggs will make the girls broody? I would very much like all my girls to sit eggs this year but this is the first time I've ever tried to make sure that the ladies sat the eggs, so I am just checking.

It usually doesn't take a Scovy long to go broody it's their middle name. I have 3 right now sitting on fake eggs since i don't have housing for any more right now, and had to discourage 2 since yesterday. They love to brood and feel it's their duty to over populate the world with little scovy ducklings. They really are just so precious I really miss not having any this year. Muscovy have the best personalities. That's awful they were in a fire.

I've read that in multiple places about the broodiness! Have you ever had them hatch chicken eggs?
Yes, I felt so bad for them and was happy to give them a home! And the lady was such a swettie and gave me a big hug before I left too. I was hoping to maybe offer them some ducklings when they get their coop rebuilt if they want them.

Nope have my bantams to do that for me if I want chicks, I have also read about chicks drowning following mama duck into water.

That would be nice for them to be able to have scovy's again if they wanted some.

You could always hatch out hoard of ducklets, then give originals back to them. if your not by then or now already way to attached to lose them, even with hoard of their feathered in young to love on..

I can take the eggs right out from under my Scovy's and they will brood on nothing.

I have one duck now who has been brooding since march, I tried locking her out of her stall took any egg she laid nothing worked so now she is sitting on a ceramic goose egg I think she may sit all summer, but as long as she comes out and eats drinks and swims I just let it run it's course. My other 2 Scovy's are also sitting on ceramic goose eggs. and my bantam hen on fake ceramic chicken eggs. I am at my max on poultry, only one who has real eggs is my goose and she just started brooding day 2 for her. .

Here is my girl Eyebrows. We thought she was a hinnie or a mule as she looked just like our anconas when she hatched and her entire first clutch were duds, but it looks like the second time is the charm for motherhood!

Squee cute babies! I love muscovies! I was finally able to find a place for nene and gave her some babies. More I put with her the happier she gets. I cant wait till sunday, I get my chocolates :)

My myrtle has become a Lovebug!! Either that or she's just looking for worms, but she's coming closer to us!!
(Maybe a little TOO Close, as far as my camera is concerned. xD but I don't think she can hurt it, it's a water proof drop proof point and shoot. )

Myrtle and Kate.

Myrtle.

And of Course, my beautiful big Drake, Naughty, enjoying the pool. Mom cleaned and refilled it today.

Boy oh boy did that make his day!!!
