Muscovy keepers share your pics!

least they don't get jealous and throw tantrums like our horse does. I saw the horse doing circle because there was a chicken in his "space" while he was throwing a tantrum.
All the rest do ok once they establish who's the boss

I'd make him stand in a corner for an hour, that'll teach him to throw tantrums.

This morning it's snowing to beat the band so Opie our drake wanted to come in and warm his piggies er feet,

He is use to being inside he thinks he is a puppy dog.

Nice pics everyone. Got anymore?

I heard the Canadian geese squawking so I decided to take a walk back to the creek. It's cold so the snow was frozen and I figured I could risk it, even though I was in my bathrobe and pj's. There is a part that floods just before you get to the creek. Pics to come.

Anyhow nothing was bothering them that I could see. They of course took off at the sight of me. I do wish there was a way to pull the logs out of the water. Or at least move them to the side of the creek.

There were a couple of young goslings but they apparently were big enough to fly.

I'm still debating ducks. It's nice when it's not to cold but Monday is was frigid and you'd freeze your butt off real fast. Animals don't care, it's me that the problem. It's hard to work when it's freezing and chores need to be done.

well here is a new type... my drakes fighting

and yes, that is a 7mth old duck staring at the whole process..

and if you have never heard the sounds of two mature Muscovy drakes fighting? well, imagine a heavy duty tarp flapping in the wind... i couldn't figure what the heck was that noise then i looked out...

I left them, i wasn't going to bother, they are a pain.. the big guy who is white is truly top drake but the bottom guy well he wants to be... so starts fights all the freakin time! i may end up selling him, he's my breeder but he'd all kidding aside do better in a singular drake flock. If i get another blue drake from him like i did last year, i may exchange? upgrade lol

Oh and for fun, here is Lilac on my planter... gosh do they love this thing, 2 more were on this but they moved they were 'watching' the fight...

Yes, couldn't be a truer statement, that's the problem.. they are all lovely when it's nice and warm for us but if your a place with winter, it's a long, cold harsh reality.

It's exciting when a fight is going on, most of mine gather round to watch, except last night my drake and gander got into it, and you know what my drake got him down 3 times. so off to bed Opie went. but last nights fight upset everyone when I finally got them boys separated, everyone had gone into their respective stalls. lol I really don't want to see this kind of fighting again though so putting up more fencing. ugh.

I hate to say it but I'm leaning away from Muscovy's. Not enough eggs for the work involved. Not that I need eggs. I've over 15 doz. Chickens eggs. Perhaps it time to downsize chickens for ducks.

Lord knows this yard is prime real estate for ducks.

Scovies lay a good amt of eggs, they just don't lay year round.
