Muscovy keepers share your pics!

My girl does this! It's super annoying, but we know all her egg hiding places now, so it makes it easier!
We haven't tried leaving fake eggs, but it seems to work for a lot of other people...

I try and keep my layer in her pen till 9-10am (after she's normally laid for the day) and then let her out to free range till bed time! Depends on your set up if that's actually possible tho! Haha

Mine lays REALLY early. Like around 7:00. Is that normal?

sometimes mine will lay even before daylight, it's all normal. I usually go out at day light and let everyone out and I'll have ducks laying or just finished. Then some like to go out of their stall and into another to lay their eggs.

yeah I know her hiding places now too, but evefy once in a while it's somewhere new. She even laid in the pool one day lol. Sadly I can't free range due to my dogs

Hi all! I promised to come back with some duckling updates but the update is not so good. The eggs she was sitting on were not fertile. I think my drake hasn`t done the job well.
I had two drakes. The younger one was a rescue one. I noticed since the younger one started growing up my older drake wasn`t mounting the girls anymore. Sadly, my young drake got so aggressive (not to me tough) that i had to find him a new home. He killed one of my girls and brought a lot of stress. REALY stress to my girls. But now that he`s gone, my older drake won`t mate with my girls anymore.
Do you think in time he will again?

I think in time he will fully realize that the aggressive male is gone and see that it is ok to breed to his hens now. Try giving them more attention, happy ducks equals eggs and happy males. Just not too much attention, you want him to be settle and figure things out. However yes I think in time he will again.

How old is he? Males usually stop mating around five years if other males are in the picture

The thing is, they have never fought. It was like the older one just didn`t care anymore. Or maybe to lazy? Because he loves to relax and relax and relax

And as for my ducks happiness, i think they are quite happy. I give them lot`s of attention. I don`t work, so they are the victim of my affection.

And my camera

New girl Daffy

Here`s new girl Daffy with my drake, she loves him already...:)

Close up

And last but not least, my drake Donnie, doing something else beside laying around, smelling his feet...

I don`t know wat age Buck oakes, i found him on my doorstep one day and he never left.
But if you look at pictures from last year, he still had some dark feathers in his face. You know, like they have when they are duckling and getting their first feathers...

Y'all I just saved a wild mallard from a gigantic hawk, I mean it was the size of an osprey!! Like no joke but it couldn't be an osprey since I live no where near a river , anyway she's bleeding from her neck but not gushing and it cut one of her eyes, but she's also very week and not to mention it's a wild mallard and I caught it , but she looks like she has a good chance and I dont care if it's illegal if I see that hawk again I'm killing it or at least gonna try

Clean her wounds out good Buck and keep her separate from your ducks hopefully she'll heal and you can let her go free. Amazing you were able to do all that with out being injured your self.
