The duckling was chirpping and pecking at the shell this morning. As I checked it more the shell got darker and more and more less chirpping I heard. Idk if it started yesterday to try and hatch or not. I didnt pick it up to listen. Opened it a little and the membrane was snug to the duckling, opened a tiny bit more saw no movement. It took about 5 touches to try and move it to realize it was still alive. Little by little it seems to be breathing better

Is its bill through the membrane? And have you opened it at the air sac end? I'm confused by what I am reading lol.

Not it was not out of membrane it was still attached. Sept I opened the membrane a little when I thought it was dead. Stopped the bleeeding though

But it was chirping? How bizarre. Essential that you stopped that bleeding though so stellar work :)
Do you have any idea where it's bill is?
If you've broken the membrane anywhere that air can get in to its face you'll need to free it's bill up or it may sufocate.

oh I didnt remove its bill. Ill have to do that. And yeah it was chripping and moving and tapping the egg, no lie..

no its bill was close to it. I saw the bill, it was right there, but still in the sack..

Sorry. For some reason I'm not getting notifications for this.
I'd be breaking the membrane where its bill is, just enough for its nostrils to be free so it can breathe and acclimate. Then I'd wrap the little guy in a slightly moist warm piece of paper towel leaving his bill free while trying to cover all of the exposed membrane and pop him back in the bator to absorb.
Also, when freeing up its bill, be careful to not break a big vein. If the membrane is moist you'll be able to see them. Just work around them to avoid a bleed :)

If it was cheeping, then it had come through the membrane, but maybe the hole was so small that you didn´t see it. When you tried to make a hole in the membrane, it bled. You stopped. Well done, right thing to do.
Now, just keep it damp, and leave it. It´s not ready to come out until all the blood has drained from the membrane. Your part is to keep the membrane moist so it can breathe and move. Don´t take any more shell off yet, just let the blood recede in the membrane.

Ok so she has stopped laying for the past three days, and she has 8 eggs, but she has been sitting on some of the eggs for 10 days, and then was adding more to her nest as she went, when will they hatch or will it be a staggered hatch and any tips for during incubation
Thanks Reece :)
