Ok everyone I have a question. I have a duckling where the egg is darkly shadowed around part of the egg, almost like some bad eggs look before blowing up. It is internilly pipped but not externally. I do know that the duck eggs are tough. I sprayed some warm water on the egg today. Do you think it will be ok? Or do you think it needs help
I don't know if I'm late to post this or not but no, it's fine I have eggs like that right now and two hatched this morning)
No need to mess with the bill, just keep membrane damp. If the duckling isn´t strong enough to get its head through the membrane, then it´s too weak to survive anyway.Do I still need to take the bill out, kr do I just leave the duckling the way it is

Just sit tight, and wait. The only thing the duckling may need help with is later, as, if we take off too much shell, it means the duckling has difficulty 'zipping', or cutting the egg around to get out. In that case, you may need to help, but that´s only once the membrane has no blood vessel left and the duckling isn´t managing to turn. Important not to rush it all.
As for laying in a pond or stream, sometimes the young ones do it. They get it sorted in time.![]()
Cool but I don't think you would have had to open it up but I wouldn't know, two of mine last night/ or this morning hathed out and they are doing great! And three more are coming![]()
Sorry it was late advicebut great that it's okay
