I have a question, I just came home from work and found the incubator temp 106 and humidity 44 When I left this morning it was 100 temp and 54 humidity, it had been holding up well till today, I thought there goes my hatch but when looking at each egg, 1 egg has cracked I can see the ducklings beak and it made the squeaky duckling noise, what should I do? should I crack the egg shell all the way or leave it till morning? @Miss Lydia @LadyHawkeAvry or anyone with experience pls advice, I also posted in the HAL thread

Can you turn the incubator down? I personally would leave it, but I am not an incubator expert, and especialy not with duck eggs.
Are any of the other eggs alive?

I turned it down already, I actually freaked out and opened it up for 1 minute, it's now 95% and humidity 79%, 4 of the other eggs still looked good with movement, 2 others not sure.

What day are they on? If one is pipping, then defnitely make sure the humidity is up there so the little darling doesn't shrink wrap itself. It sounds like you are at hatching time - the incubator temperature often rises at hatching and needs to be tweaked - as the babies become active they generate heat. Once they start to hatch, resist the urge to open the incubator up. You need it like a little rain forest in there. Eggs can withstand temperature extremes better than you'd think. I came home one day to an incubator temperature of 110 once - everyone made it to hatching day. Just keep a close eye on the temperature so that you can adjust it more if you need to.

I was not as lucky my incubator reached a 107 degrees Fahrenheit and killed all my chicks that was terrible and they were in the middle of hatching I lost a lot of chicks. But the rest of that Ladyhawkeavery is very correct every bit.

I think mine did a little better when my temperature shot up because they were not actively hatching at the time, so the chicks didn't get hit with a direct heat wave. The intact shells provided a buffer zone at least. I don't think any of mine could do a direct roast either!
